The National Theatre of Scotland is proud to present the fourth and final Allotment - an arts bar where live performance, new art and music fuse unconventionally for one-off events.
Following the success of the three previous sell-out events in October, December and February, the final Allotment event will take place in Govan Cross Shopping Centre over two nights on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th May 2010. The same event will run both evenings.
Produced by Angie Bual and Caroline Newall, the final Allotment offers an alternative night out by embracing cyberspace and the phenomena of social networking. An artistic take on websites including Facebook, MySpace and My Single Friend, Allotment will bring virtual networking experiences to life. Through live music, art and performance, the final Allotment experience will enable punters to reclaim the art of conversation, make new friends and take part in some dating games. As the night unfolds, three secret locations will also be brought in to the mix.
For May’s Allotment, the National Theatre of Scotland put out an open call to artists to submit ideas and over 20 artists are now on board to create work for the final event. These artists work across a multitude of disciplines including theatre, dance, sound installation, electronic media, film producing, VJing, performance poetry, sculpture, visual art and environmental art. Allotment will provide a platform for the artists to showcase a wide range of work.
Music bands including Inspector Tapehead, dBass and former members of Galchen will be contributing to the event. Gareth K. Vile, Performance Editor of our media partners The Skinny, will also be conducting live media reports from the event.
